About me
My name is Claudia Cantoni, I am a Swiss-Italian painter based in Lugano. I trained at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and earned a degree in Classical Archaeology from King’s College London, a combination that has shaped my deep understanding of art and its evolution.
For the past ten years, I’ve exhibited across Switzerland, Germany, the UK, and Italy, participating in thematic projects like Eye Inspires Hand, Kanojo, and Eye & Hand, including the collaboratively-focused Art for the Global Goals with the artistic duo EvE Carcan.
One of my most meaningful collaborations is Art & Science, in partnership with biologist Ester Piovesana. Here, I transformed microscopic images of cellular morphogenesis into painterly abstractions, blending the micro and macro worlds and exploring intersections of technology, nature, and consciousness.
My artistic practice is driven by a desire to convey internal visions on contemporary historic events, through a synthesis of philosophical and contemporary narratives, inviting emotional engagement. This outlook on social issues is fully expressed in projects such as Art for the Global Goals, Art & Science, act now! for the future, and the recent installation La voce della violenza.
Among other achievements, I have worked as a freelance illustrator in Milan, created murals for private and ecclesiastical spaces—such as the Oratory of the Church of the Passion in Milan and the “Good Shepherd” in Mauritius—and taught at the Art Center College Europe in Vevey and the Politecnico del Design in Milan.
